Free Study Guides for the CBMT Exam

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

Due to the overwhelming number of requests from music therapy students both nationally and globally, I am sharing the study guides that I had used while studying for the CBMT exam. Some of them were notes from school courses, others were study guides that others have shared with me. To view a detailed summary of how I tackled the exam, see my previous blog Acing the CBMT Exam.

As an intern in my last few weeks of internship and preparing for the exam, I want to thank you for all these resources and cheat sheets. Just FYI, I was reading through the Intro to MT handout and pages 5-7 include prolific use of outdated language referring to the IDD population. To be quite honest, it was hard to read and if it was a word document I could have changed the language myself for my own study purposes, but it's a pdf. For the future, I would recommend updating that document with appropriate clinical language.

Thank you again for taking the time to share these helpful resources!

Thank you for your valuable feedback! The notes for "Intro to MT" were created based on the second edition of the textbook. I am unable to edit it in pdf either, but have removed that file. I wish you the best of all luck with the exam!
